My Latest Business Growth Tweak

I adore Floss. We first met at Athena, a women's’ networking group we are part of. I immediately loved her sense of creativity, colour, style as well as her friendly personality.

As I got to know Floss and her design work, I realised she would be the perfect person to update my logo. She had taken part in and loved my workshops so she understood my work well and I liked her approach to design and her deep understanding of how branding works.

I like to continuously improve all aspects of my business. I call it ‘tweaking’. There are so many things I want to do that it can sometimes feel overwhelming. But the way I deal with that is to keep a list and just make time to keep tweaking.

My big brand tweak

I had invested in several professional photo-shoots over the years but somehow had not really thought about my logo. It’s easy to forget that our branding needs to be updated or even changed every now and then. Mine had served me well for many years but from initial chats with Floss I started to see it was well overdue an overhaul:

So we began with a Brand Brainstorm and mood-boarding over extended coffee and croissants at lovely Cannizaro House in Wimbledon

I knew I wanted something handwritten and friendly and clearly my favourite colour orange was going to feature in there somewhere. Floss asked me several fascinating questions which got me thinking well beyond a logo into my personality and values.

A few weeks later Floss sent me a choice of logos. They were all good but one stood out immediately. I got that ‘adorable puppy I want to bring home’ feeling and I knew it was the one. I felt then and still do that it captured my energy in font form!

That logo is now the one you see on my website. I thought I was done for the time being, but a few months later Floss reminded me that I could be utilising my brand much more consistently (sidenote: I like that she has a portfolio of services and each one takes you to the next level – that’s exactly what I encourage my clients to do). To be honest I already knew I needed to go further but it was quite far down on my long tweaks-to-do list.

I like to share what I’m learning with my clients as much as possible, in as transparent a way as possible so consequently I (bravely) invited Floss to do a 'live' diagnosis workshop in my group, ‘Turn your Vision into Results’. Then I hired her once more to create some Canva templates to help keep my social media posts consistent.

I’ve already noticed an upturn in engagement online. It was well worth the time, money and effort. Thanks Floss!
